Critics, including human trafficking experts and other police forces, say it&#8217;s a waste of time, and can further victimise sex workers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.xescorts.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/iStock_000013546247XSmall1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.xescorts.com\/blog\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/iStock_000013546247XSmall1-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"mysterious woman in fetish mask seducing man\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-678\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Hawaii bill cracking down on prostitution was originally written to get rid of the sex exemption for officers on duty, but it was amended to restore that protection after police testimony. The revised proposal has passed the state House and will go before the Senate shortly.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"inline\">A Green Light To Misconduct<\/h2>\n<p>Still, unsurprisingly, this is seen by many as giving a green light to police misconduct. There are stories of police offers wanting &#8216;freebies&#8217; so they won&#8217;t arrest or harass prostitutes.<\/p>\n<p>Expert Derek Marsh, who trains California police on how to deal with prostitutes effectively, says the exemption is &#8220;antiquated at best&#8221; stating that police don&#8217;t need it to do their jobs effectively.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It doesn&#8217;t help your case, and at worst you further traumatize someone. And do you think he or she is going to trust a cop again?&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The argument for allowing this exemption is that the police can work out how far the pimps and prostitutes are willing to go. Though this argument is disputed. <\/p>\n<p>Lauren Hersh who runs &#8216;Equality Now, a women&#8217;s advocacy group, thinks you could be re-victimizing people who have been guilty of abuse. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can understand you&#8217;re in a drug den, and you have a gun to your head and someone says &#8216;snort this&#8217;.
