Noisy Sex – Can It Get Too Loud?
December 8, 2014
When sex is good it can be really really good. It gets noisy, with you suddenly shouting to a deity you might not believe it (“Oh God!”) or suddenly being overcome to agree with your partner (“oh yes!”). The noise lets your partner know that they are hitting the spot and doing the right thing.
However, some people feel that too much noise in bed is a bad thing. It can put your partner off as the sound can be irritating. Sometimes it can also be too much for others that hear you, as one woman found out.
Police and prison
For Caroline Cartwright her screaming and the banging of the bed during sex led to the neighbours complaining. When their complaints were ignored, they contacted the police.
When thirty police visits weren’t enough to let Cartwright know that she should keep it down, she was given a four-year ASBO and given a 12 week prison sentence.
Her argument for the noise was that “if you get to a point where the bed’s banging on the wall, you’re not going to stop, are you?”. Clearly she was enjoying it so much that the noise wasn’t an issue for her and I can see her point, but were the loud screams necessary?
Should sex by quiet?
If it is too quiet when you’re having sex it can feel really awkward. You don’t know if what you’re doing is good or if you need to try something else. You at least want a little feedback from your partner, rather than the only noise being the creaking of bed springs.
Too loud during hard sex and you run the risk of deafening your partner, irritating your neighbours, and ruining your chances of sex again with your partner as they won’t want to put up with the noise. Too much noise can make you a not sexy lady, as it feels fake and forced.
For me it is all a matter of what is genuine. If it feels that good that you want to thank God that’s fine, but if you are just doing it to fill the silence then it can be a turn off. Small moans can be the perfect meeting ground between silence and screaming in bed.
