Lovers is kissing in bed

If you are looking to improve your sex life, it can be a minefield trying to find the right advice. Some sites will suggest trying anything and everything to make a difference, while others promise an easy solution if you subscribe to their services.

You can be left feeling as though a better sex life is out of reach for you. However, one study has suggested that the key to a better sex life is very simple. All you have to do is start sleeping naked.

Sleeping naked rules!

What I wear in bed tends to differ depending on my mood. If I am feeling rough I’ll go for full-length pyjamas. If I’m not, I got for shorts and a vest. On the occasions when I’m feeling sexy, I might strip off completely and opt for sleeping naked over wearing clothing.

I know I’m not the only one, though with the heatwave many of us had to deal with this summer, I suspect more people got naked in order to sleep. One less layer meant a hell of a lot better sleeping for the majority of us.

It feels good to sleep naked, as long as you don’t worry about needing to run out into the street in the middle of the night. It helps you regulate your body temperature. A recent study has also suggested that there are other benefits to stripping off for sleep.

Benefits of sleeping naked

You might not like the idea of stripping off in order to sleep, but a recent study has suggested that it could help you to sleep soundly. Roughly 40% of Brits don’t get a good night’s sleep each night, with issues like a bad back, sore neck, or still feeling tired when you wake being a problem.

Dr Sarah Brewer is a general practitioner and states that, while stripping off to sleep won’t cure these problems, it can still help you to sleep better. This is because overheating is one of the most common causes of disturbed sleep. By choosing to sleep naked, you could fix this problem and get better sleep at night. “Being over-hot in bed by 3-4 degrees changes brain-wave patterns, reduces the amount of time you spend in REM sleep, increases the chances of waking up and reduces deep sleep”.

Sleeping naked helps your body to regulate temperature better. It can also give you a better sex life. This is because it helps to improve your relationship with your partner, as you are sharing this freedom with them. You are also more likely to have sex, as being naked sends a signal that you are interested in it. That doesn’t sound too bad, does it?

The other benefits

If the idea of having a better relationship with your partner and the possibility or more sex isn’t enough to entice you to strip off for bed, then this might. This is not the only benefit of sleeping naked. In fact, there are some pretty amazing ones you might want to consider.

When your sleep is disrupted because you are too hot, your body produces more cortisol. This can lead to an increase appetite, and so you are more likely to gain weight. If you want to aid weight loss, it might be an idea to strip off for bed.

If you have any skin conditions, you’ll find that being too hot can make them worse. Going to bed naked is something that your skin will thank you for. It gives your skin the chance to breathe and recover from what is bothering it.

Will you sleep naked?

I’m not going to lie, learning this makes me tempted to strip off for bed more. No matter how cold it is, I often wake in the night feeling too hot. I didn’t realise that choosing to wear pyjamas could be killing my sex life or making it harder to lose weight!

It looks like I’ll be putting the pyjamas away tonight. Who is with me? Will you be sleeping naked tonight after learning this, or are you too comfortable in pyjamas at night?
